At MVCA, qualified teachers combined with a Biblically-based robust academic curriculum provide all students with a strong foundation.
Students are expected to be resourceful and excel academically, spiritually, emotionally and physically. We give students the confidence to feel positive and successful toward learning!
MVCA’s primary grades (first and second) focus on an introduction and mastery of skills that provide a strong academic foundation in language arts, mathematics, science, social studies and handwriting. The reading curriculum directs the students into the world of written language through systematic instruction in phonics, and literature. Our math program develops a solid foundation in the language and concepts of mathematics. Students learn of the world around them through science, social studies, history and geography units.
During the intermediate grades (third, fourth and fifth), students apply and expand their learning skills. Comprehension skills are emphasized as well as strengthening vocabulary development, grammar skills, composition skills and spelling. Math provides for continual review of foundational skills and concepts while introducing higher level functions and problem solving techniques. Science focuses on the fundamental processes of physical and life sciences using a hands-on approach. Units in social studies cover South Carolina, American and world studies, ancient civilizations, communities and cultures, and geography.
Small class size and a qualified staff provide the attention and instruction needed to bring out the very best in each student. The acquisition of exceptional reading, grammar, spelling and math skills is the goal for our elementary students. Our science, social studies and geography programs compliment our core curriculum. Additionally, these fundamental skills are enhanced with instruction in our enrichment areas including computer technology, music, drama, art, and physical education. Midland Valley’s curriculum consist of resources from Abeka, Bob Jones University, Association of Christian Schools International, and Saxon.
