Applying and enrolling
1What is the academic screening?
All Academy applicants grades K5 and up will complete an academic screening as part of the admissions process. Depending on the grade, this can include sections of a standardized achievement test, as well as reading and writing activities. The screenings last anywhere from 30 minutes to 3 hours, depending upon the applicant’s grade. You will schedule your child’s screening appointment when you complete your application. Questions about this process? Click here.
2What is the family interview?
All Academy applicants grades K5 and up will complete a family interview. The interview typically lasts 30 minutes and includes the Head of School, the admissions counselor, and the student's potential teacher or other grande-appropriate faculty. The interview is a time for the family and admissions team to get better acquainted, discuss any questions or concerns, and consider how MVCA might best serve the needs of the family and student. Daycare and Preschool applicants are not required to complete a family interview.
3How much will it cost for my child to attend MVCA?
4What types of financial aid or scholarships are available?

6Is there a waiting list to get on?

Programs and activities
1How large are the classes?
This is always one benefit of private Christian education: small class sizes. At present, most of our Academy classes are around 9-12 students.
2What athletics and extracurricular programs does MVCA offer?
Athletics for grades 5-8 just began in the 2020 school year. Sports this year are boys basketball, boys and girls golf, and coeducational soccer. Cross-country, track, and girls basketball are planned for next year depending on participation. In addition, the elementary puts on a musical drama program each spring. This is a highlight for most of our families. In 2021, we are looking at adding a variety of interest-based Afterschool Clubs for both the lower and middle school. Specific clubs will depend on teacher/facilitator availability and student interest.
3Are you planning to add high school anytime soon?
Adding a high school is definitely in our future. Discussions are underway to look at options and ideas for how and when we would take this step. We are excited about the possibilities we see for a truly unique high school experience at MVCA!
1Where can I find the school's Statement of Faith?
The MVCA Statement of Faith is available here. Families applying to our school are asked to affirm their agreement with the Statement of Faith and understanding that it will be used to govern the school, inform program, curricular, and administrative decisions, and guide student instruction.
2Is MVCA associated with a particular denomination?
Yes, MVCA is a ministry of Midland Valley Community Church of the Nazarene. However, we do not require families to be members of Midland Valley Church, the Church of the Nazarene, nor to adhere specifically to the tenants of the Nazarene Church. Our teachers and staff represent a variety of denominations including Baptist, Methodist, Church of God, and so forth.
We look forward to meeting your family and showing you what MVCA has to offer.
