Daycare FAQ

What are your hours of operation?

MVCA’s hours of operation are from 6:30 am until 6:00 pm.

Do I need an appointment to tour the Daycare?

No. You’re always welcome to come by any time – with or without your child – during our hours of operation for a visit. But we do recommend calling ahead to schedule a tour so a MVCA representative can give you his/her undivided attention and take the time to answer all your questions.

Do you offer a mother’s-day-out program or drop-in care?

No. We do not offer a mother’s-day-out program or drop-in care.

Do you offer part-time care?

Yes. We offer part time care for 4K and 5K students who need afterschool care. We also offer part time care to school age children in the afternoon from 2:45 pm until 6:00 pm. However, families need to arrange transportation to MVCA for their child.

What is your staff-to-child ratio?

Our ratios always comply with South Carolina State Minimum Standards and are typically lower. For a specific class ratio, please ask MVCA office personnel.

How do I know my child is safe at school?

Providing a learning environment that promotes a sense of cleanliness, wellness, and security is our number one priority. We employ good hygienic practices and safety measures, including 24 hour video surveillance, employee background and criminal-history checks.

What do you use to disinfect the rooms and equipment?

MVCA uses a diluted bleach/water solution and antibacterial disinfectant spray.

May I visit my child during the day?

Of course! We always welcome visits from moms and dads, and encourage your participation in their day whenever possible.

Yes. We require our employees to renew their CPR and first aid training every two years.

Are meals included?

Yes. We serve a morning snack, a nutritious hot lunch and an afternoon snack for all students who can eat table food.

Do you offer meal options for special diets – vegetarian, vegan, all –organic, kosher, etc?

No. Unfortunately, limited kitchen space and staffing prevent us from providing multiple meal options. You’re always welcome to bring your child’s lunch from home, and we’ll happily accommodate this however necessary.

Do you provide formula and baby food?

No. Due to the wide variety of individual infant requirements and potential for early food-allergy development, we require you to bring your baby’s formula or food from home.

My baby drinks breast milk only. Can I send his/her milk with her?

Of course! We fully support breastfeeding, and equip our infant rooms with refrigerators for you to store your baby’s labeled bottles.

Do you provide diapers and wipes?

No. We require you to bring your child’s diapers and wipes from home.

Do the children get to play outside every day?

Yes. Weather permitting, all students (toddlers and older) get outside playtime on our age-appropriate playgrounds. When temperatures are above 95° or below 50° (including heat index or wind chill), the children enjoy other physical activity and play inside.
